Altair, Sideral 2003
The 2003 Sideral, a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot. 4% Syrah, and 2% Sangiovese, is purple-colored with aromas of toasty black currants, cedar, and spice box. This is followed by a smoothly textured wine with ripe red and black fruits, spicy flavors, and soft tannins. The wine is forward enough to be enjoyed now but will evolve for several years. Anne Francois Gros Vosne Romanee 'Aux Reas' 2005
A classic Vosne nose (save for a discreet bit of wood) with abundant spice notes adding nuance to the refined and pure black fruit aromas that give way to punchy middle weight flavors that are finer and more sophisticated if not more powerful. The tannins are not ultra sophisticated, though neither are they rustic and overall, this is certainly a seductive and altogether lovely effort, especially for a villages level wine. Recommended. 90 Points BURGHOUND

Anne Francois Gros, Vosne Romanee 'La Fontaine' 2005
A deft touch of wood but also reduction makes the nose difficult to easily read but the flavors are rich, full, fresh and sweet, possessing good volume and complexity on the vibrant and punchy finish. This is an attractive effort that is very Vosne in character.87-89 Points Drink 2011+ BURGHOUND April 2007

Bass Phillip, Estate Pinot Noir 2007
Rigorous triaging of fruit, together with an almost insane passion and attention to detail, has resulted in the most exquisite of Australian Pinot Noirs. The wines have beautiful, black cherry, floral and gamey aromas, supple, velvety tannins, underlying smoky oak and plenty of length. In recent years, he has developed new vineyards to become commercially more comfortable without compromising quality. The market is already embracing the Old Cellar Pinot Noir and Crown Prince Pinot Noir, off relatively young vines. The Reserve Pinot Noir is almost impossible to get, but is arguably the greatest Pinot Noir produced in Australia. These wines are on the fringe of the cult scene and can perform spectacularly well. Battley, Syrah 2006
Battely is owned by Dr Russell Bourne, he is also the winemaker and viticulturist. Located on the site of the old Brown Brothers Everton Hills vineyard, this superbly sited and well drained granite based vineyard was planted in 1998 to Syrah, Durif, Marsanne and a little Viognier. The vineyard is slightly lower in altitude than its neighbor Giaconda, and as a result the site is a little warmer and ripens before some other Beechworth producers.

Bellavista Cuvee Brut NV
Scale and charm seldom go together, yet in Bellavista’s case they are perfectly compatible. This remarkable operation, masterminded by owner Vittorio Moretti and Italy’s newly-crowned Oenologist of the Year, Mattia Vezzola, combines grandeur and star quality with familiarity and simplicity. The estate’s larger than life facilities, kilometres of underground cellars, computer-controlled operations and 455 surrounding hectares of Franciacorta woods and vineyards (184 hectares under vine) leave you awestruck. So too does organic production, Marmonnier upright presses, in-the-bottle secondary fermentation for all bottle sizes (no decanting here) – all at the very cutting edge of sparkling wine production. Recently, Mattia implemented yet another quality phase, increasing the élevage, on average, from 36 to 48 months so as to achieve the greatest possible quality consistency and personality.
