Caillard, Mataro 2008
The brambly/ blackberry/ chamomile aromas, underlying fragrance of new oak, brawny but sinuous texture and mid-palate buoyancy give it both plenty of life and length. The blackberry / herb garden flavours, nuances of new oak, moderate alcohol and touches of earthiness give it a striking individuality.

Dutschke, Muscat NV
The non-vintage Muscat possesses a deep amber color in addition to a sweet nose of caramel, butterscotch, and roasted nuts. Fine acidity provides uplift to its enormously endowed flavor profile. This unctuous, captivating, heady concoction reveals a smorgasbord of aromas and flavors. It will probably hold for 7-10 days after opening. 95. Robert Parker

Grant Burge, 20YO Tawny
“Magnificent, brandied nose that sings of Chesterfields, cloves and smoking jackets. Richly rancio. Dark, spiced pudding nd deeply roasted hazelnuts simmering over blazing coals. Fiery, alcoholic kick gives this fantastic definition. Wickedly sinful". Adelaide Advertiser, September 2006, Advertiser Hyatt SA Wine of the Year, Fortified winner 2006

Head Wines, "Red" Shiraz Viognier 2009
This is a declassified blend of both "The Blonde" and "The Brunette" resulting in an extremely limited edition wine called: Head Red. In a case which exemplifies the proverb that "The whole is greater than the sum of the parts" this wine is a stunner and not to be missed. Longer oak maturation has rounded this wine, however there is still a complex underlying structure and lifted fruit characteristics which come from the Brunette and Blonde respectively.

Head Wines, Old Vine Grenache 2009
This wine is another small quantity offering from Alex Head. The grapes for this wine were grown on old, dry grown bush vines in the Barossa. The grapes bunches were all hand picked and foot squashed whole to add extra structure to the wine. Minimal intervention was prcticed along the whole of the wine making process. Unfined and unfiltered. It is indeed a very good wine.

Head Wines, Old Vine Semillon 2009
This is a wine produced in very small quantities with only 100 cases made. The wine is made from vines planted in the 1850's on high drainage white sandy soil. This wine is particually interesting as it is made in an ozidative style. The winemaker, Alex Head, believes this ensures fruit freshness and a longer life in bottle. At 11.5% alc. this wine is not as light as Hunter Valley Semillons and has been picked early to maintain a high natural acidity. It shows intense floral and honey notes. On the palate there is a tangy lemon persistance which will evolve into more nuanced notes of honey and lanolin as the wine ages. A semillon not to miss, it leaves many of it's Hunter Valley counterparts in the shade.

Hentley Farm Shiraz 2007
We tasting this vin 29/03/09 in store with the winemaker. Seemless, medium to full bodied Barossa Shiraz. One thing we don't like about many SA reds are the things that stick out of them, be it too much alcohol, sweet sickly fruit or American oak. This is one wine which we can drink more then one glass of, a complete wine, that sits comfortable at it's level and at table. It's a pleasure to see someone getting it right and it's great to be able to recommended such Aussie shiraz. Also check out their other 07s.
