Altair, Sideral 2003
The 2003 Sideral, a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot. 4% Syrah, and 2% Sangiovese, is purple-colored with aromas of toasty black currants, cedar, and spice box. This is followed by a smoothly textured wine with ripe red and black fruits, spicy flavors, and soft tannins. The wine is forward enough to be enjoyed now but will evolve for several years. Chateau Rauzan-Segla, Margaux 2004
The 2004 Rauzan-Segla is superior to the 2003, offering a deep ruby/purple hue in addition to a flowery, mineral-infused, sweet black fruit, cherry, and subtle oak-scented bouquet. Medium-bodied, elegant, beautifully concentrated, and well-balanced in a classic, feminine style, it should drink well for 15+ years. ROBERT PARKER

Chateau Branaire Ducru, St Julien 2005
As usual, the 2005 Branaire-Ducru is one of the more distinctive wines of St.-Julien. Proprietor Patrick Maroteaux has turned out another classic. While not as opulent or fleshy as the 2003, and it remains to be seen if it will eclipse the 2000, the 2005 is a big, structured, intensely rich effort with raspberry, blueberry, and spring flower garden characteristics, stunning purity, full-bodied power, and good underlying acidity as well as harmony. The hard tannins suggest 8-9 years of cellaring will be beneficial; it should last for three decades. Wine Advocate # 176 95 Points Drink: 2015 - 2030
