Anne Francois Gros Vosne Romanee 'Aux Reas' 2005
A classic Vosne nose (save for a discreet bit of wood) with abundant spice notes adding nuance to the refined and pure black fruit aromas that give way to punchy middle weight flavors that are finer and more sophisticated if not more powerful. The tannins are not ultra sophisticated, though neither are they rustic and overall, this is certainly a seductive and altogether lovely effort, especially for a villages level wine. Recommended. 90 Points BURGHOUND

Anne Francois Gros, Vosne Romanee 'La Fontaine' 2005
A deft touch of wood but also reduction makes the nose difficult to easily read but the flavors are rich, full, fresh and sweet, possessing good volume and complexity on the vibrant and punchy finish. This is an attractive effort that is very Vosne in character.87-89 Points Drink 2011+ BURGHOUND April 2007

Chateau Rauzan-Segla, Margaux 2004
The 2004 Rauzan-Segla is superior to the 2003, offering a deep ruby/purple hue in addition to a flowery, mineral-infused, sweet black fruit, cherry, and subtle oak-scented bouquet. Medium-bodied, elegant, beautifully concentrated, and well-balanced in a classic, feminine style, it should drink well for 15+ years. ROBERT PARKER

Chateau Ausone, St Emilion 2004
An extraordinary effort, and a candidate for wine of the vintage, the 2004 Ausone boasts an inky/blue/purple color as well as a prodigious nose of crushed rocks, white flowers, sweet truffles, black raspberries, cherries, and graphite. Although possessing huge richness as well as medium to full body the historic terroir has also provided a surreal lightness to the wine’s impression. Beautiful flavors, sensational depth, and abundant structure suggest this 2004 will not be close to full maturity for 8-10 years. It should last for four decades. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2065. Chateau Branaire Ducru, St Julien 2005
As usual, the 2005 Branaire-Ducru is one of the more distinctive wines of St.-Julien. Proprietor Patrick Maroteaux has turned out another classic. While not as opulent or fleshy as the 2003, and it remains to be seen if it will eclipse the 2000, the 2005 is a big, structured, intensely rich effort with raspberry, blueberry, and spring flower garden characteristics, stunning purity, full-bodied power, and good underlying acidity as well as harmony. The hard tannins suggest 8-9 years of cellaring will be beneficial; it should last for three decades. Wine Advocate # 176 95 Points Drink: 2015 - 2030

Chateau Cheval Blanc, St Emilion 2000
100pt Parker wine! This closed, backward blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Franc boasts a saturated purple color along with a reticent but striking bouquet of blackberries, blueberries, truffles, and mocha. In spite of its tightness, aeration reveals scents of licorice, menthol, and saddle leather. Opulent and full-bodied, with low acidity, sweet tannin, and a 60-second finish, it is unquestionably as profound as the 1990 and 1982. I still believe the 2000 has the potential to be the most compelling Cheval Blanc since the mythical 1947 and 1949, but patience is required. It should merit a three digit score in 7-10 years, but it is closed at present. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2030+. ROBERT PARKER

Chateau Cos D'Estournel, St Estephe 1995
A wine of extraordinary intensity and accessibility, the 1995 Cos d'Estournel is a sexier, more hedonistic offering than the muscular, backward 1996. Opulent, with forward aromatics (gobs of black fruits intermixed with toasty pain grille scents and a boatload of spice), this terrific Cos possesses remarkable intensity, full body, and layers of jammy fruit nicely framed by the wine's new oak. Because of low acidity and sweet tannin, the 1995 will be difficult to resist young, although it will age for 2-3 decades. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2025. 95 Points. ROBERT PARKER
