Antonelli Montefalco Rosso 2007
A little beast of a wine that benefits from a decant. Based on the Umbrian, Sagrantino grape it's intense and brilliant ruby red in colour, with an intense fruity bouquet. Reminiscent of berries (cherries, blackberries, currants) and plums. Dry and warm taste with good texture and length. Team it with some chargrilled meats!

Paolo Bea Montefalco Rosso 2004
The 2004 Montefalco Rosso is a blend of Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Sagrantino grown in the Pipparello vineyard. It is a silky-textured offering with remarkable clarity in its sweet red fruit, tobacco and spices. Made in a more understated style than the Sagrantino, it offers notable detail and nuance. It should continue to develop beautifully in bottle. Wine Advocate

Sean Thackrey Aquila 2002 (Sangiovese)
This Sangiovese comes from the famous Eaglepoint Ranch in Medocino, which is on the coast north of San Francisco. These wines represent a different view of the grape and are at once varietal and Californian at the same time. You will be struck by the richness, classic Thackrey spice and menthol, with very fine characters like mocha, cedar, fig, prune, allspice and earth. Medium to full bodied and carrying a warmth of alcohol just on 15%. Both vintages were considered good to excellent, and are aging beautifully. “this is as good as Sangiovese can get in California”, Robert Parker
