Alana Estate, Sauvignon Blanc 2009
One of the most encouraging signs from the Alana vineyard and especially the Sauvignon Blanc is the consistency of fruit expression. This is highlighted by our attention to detail in the vineyard with cropping levels (approx 4 tonnes/acre), fruit exposure with leaf plucking and attention to high quality hand training during the growing season. The fruit handling with hand picking and whole bunch pressing allows the wine to be light and elegant; this pushes forward the mineral citrus expression of our place, and creates a style that works with food and bottle ages well.

Apparently most New Zealanders prefer 'Nuragas di Cagliari' than their own home grown Sav Blanc. And now the tide is turning in OZ! An aged, rich and powerful Alsace riesling, that would be beautiful with any pork dish. A substanial vin, with beautiful sweetness (but not overt), acid balance and length, a real charmer and ohh so moorish! Drinking a treat now (2010) but would cellar for another decade, easy!

Floral nose with that botrytis scent that gives that impression of a sweet vin, but no on the palate although rich and ripe it's dry! Lovely finesse and fineness to be found here, class indeed!

Bollini Pinot Grigio 2008
The wines come from choice hillside locations in Trentino where a combination of high altitudes, a multitude of mesoclimates and night/day temperature extremes speak concentration and breeding. Pinot Grigio exhibits traits seldom achieved at this level, with pear fruit, mineral notes and a creamy texture. The grapes are vinified and aged in stainless steel but, to engender further complexity and depth, the wine undergoes bâtonnage on the lees. It is the perfect aperitif white wine but matches well with all types of fish and shellfish.
