Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair, Nuits St.-Georges La Charmotte 2005
Strong reduction makes the nose tough to evaluate but there is good volume and punch to the rich, full and moderately rustic medium weight flavors that are delicious, balanced and persistent if not elegant. Burghound Jan 01, 2007 86-89 Points Drink: 2011+

Domaine Tollot-Beaut, Savigny Champ Chevrey 1er Cru 2004 MAGNUM
Champ-Chevrey was acquired by our family in 1953, explains Nathalie Tollot at Domaine Tollot-Beaut. It is located east of Lavières. As with Lavières the subsoil is limestone laves, but with more clay. In general the wines from Lavières are very refined and elegant, but Champ-Chevrey have more structure. The vines in Champ-Chevrey were planted in 1955 and the name comes from the French word for hemp, chanvre.

Domaines Georges Mugneret et Mugneret-Gibourg, Nuits St.-Georges "Les Chaignots" 2006
This is also mildly reduced with red berry fruit and earth notes fighting their way out of the funkiness to introduce the sweet and discreetly spicy moderately full flavors that are firm and focused and while admirably persistent, they finish with a touch of leanness. BURGHOUND

Dominique Laurent, Bonnes Mares 2004
Ruby-red. Confectionery aromas of tiny wild fruits, minerals and smoke; the Chambolle character dominates today, whereas last year the '99 Bonnes-Mares was more Morey. Sappy, sweet and quite refined; an extremely pure wine that already exudes compelling inner-mouth perfume. Finishes with firm tannins and superb fruit intensity and persistence. Tasted from only 100% new oak, as this wine had not yet been racked into a second new barrel. A wine of extravagant sweetness, and the best in the cave on this day. WINEMAKER

Dominique Laurent, Corton VV Grand Cru 2005
The 2005 Corton Vieilles Vignes – of which there will be seventy-five cases – displays lovely sweet aromas of lightly-cooked cherry along with grilled meats and a hint of caramel and vanilla from the wood. Enormous richness of fruit on the palate goes hand in hand with faintly funky, gamy, meaty flavors and a hint of finishing heat. This is very impressive in its somewhat savage intensity, but I would want to taste how it evolves between now and bottling. Wine Advocate # 171 Jun 2007 (89-91+) Points
