Chateau de Roquefort, Corail Rose 2008
"First of all, the label rocks: simple and strong, just big, black, art-deco-font letters. But then there’s the wine inside, pure Provence, stone-dry and redolent of thyme, rosemary, and all the other stuff that dries to fragrant crispness on its rolling hills. The wine is as light as its color, just a blush of orangey red; a dose of the white grape Clairette keeps it extra lively." Gourmet Magazine, Eight Great Rose Wines, Tara Q Thomas. Oh by the way, did we mention its a biodynamic wine as well, well it is!

90% Malbec and 10% Tannat. Aged 1/3 each new, 1y.o. & 2y.o. barrels. The 2005 is a classic year for Cahors continuing the high standards set by the wines of the last several vintages. This is a big and bold wine, with copious quantities of layered fruit. It is almost black in colour, with chewy, rich black-fruit flavours filling the mouth. Full and firm in structure with substantial fine tannic grip. The wine is drinking well now with rich meaty dishes.

Chateau du Cédre, widely regarded as one of Cahors' leading estates, is the domaine of brothers Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe. Château du Cléray Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur Lie 2007
The first thing to be said is that there is Muscadet and Muscadet. Or to be more accurate, ‘industrial’Muscadet and ‘hand-made’Muscadet Sur Lie. Most of the best stuff spends up to a year sitting on its fermentation lees in tank or barrel, which fills out Muscadet's rather skeletal flavours with a bit of flesh and extra weight. Château du Cléray Sauvion, located in Vallet, in the heart of the Nantes vineyards, is one of the oldest estates of the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine region and produce this single estate elegant citrus and aniseed-scented white from entirely estate grown fruit. The real deal!
