Chateau Kirwan, Margaux 2005
I remember tasting a number of Kirwans from the 19th century that had held up surprisingly well for over 100 years. While the 2005 will probably not last that long, it may be one of the finest wines this estate has made in the last fifty years. This brilliant, full-bodied, powerful, broodingly backward Margaux exhibits a dense purple hue along with notes of charcoal, licorice, blackberries, and graphite. Chateau La Galante 2009
The first 2009 Bordeaux to land in Australia from this once in a life time vintage. This unoaked Bordeaux is an excellent depiction of the 2009 vintage, with loads of dark fruits and great concentration. If this is just entry level, the wines which land in 2012 are a must. I would be looking at buying En Primeur.

Chateau Lanessan, Haut-Medoc 2001
Lanessan's 2001 is a consistent overachiever in Haut-Medoc. This wine nearly rivals the outstanding 2000. It is a seriously-extracted, dark ruby/purple-colored offering with ripe cassis fruit, notes of leather and earth, and a hint of truffles. It is medium-bodied, pure, and savory, with copious tannin. One of the most beautiful Rauzan-Seglas made in decades, this blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest primarily Merlot and tiny dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot exhibits a gorgeous perfume of spring flowers, subtle mint, black cherries, black currants, licorice, and a hint of new oak. It offers medium to full body, sweet tannins, and a layered mouthfeel that builds incrementally to a sensational finish. Although this beauty is performing well, it remains a decade away from its plateau of maturity. Cullen, 'Diane Madeline' Cabernet 2007
This is a great wine and one of the very finest Bordeaux blends ever produced at Cullens. It was made using all of the five red grape varieties of Bordeaux, with Cabernet Sauvignon comprising three quarters of the blend. Powerful and sumptuous, with the wonderful black cherry flavours in the middle palate being backed by fine-grained tannins and leading into a rewardingly long and lingering finish.
