Chateau Rauzan-Segla, Margaux 2004
The 2004 Rauzan-Segla is superior to the 2003, offering a deep ruby/purple hue in addition to a flowery, mineral-infused, sweet black fruit, cherry, and subtle oak-scented bouquet. Medium-bodied, elegant, beautifully concentrated, and well-balanced in a classic, feminine style, it should drink well for 15+ years. ROBERT PARKER

Chateau Ausone, St Emilion 2004
An extraordinary effort, and a candidate for wine of the vintage, the 2004 Ausone boasts an inky/blue/purple color as well as a prodigious nose of crushed rocks, white flowers, sweet truffles, black raspberries, cherries, and graphite. Although possessing huge richness as well as medium to full body the historic terroir has also provided a surreal lightness to the wine’s impression. Beautiful flavors, sensational depth, and abundant structure suggest this 2004 will not be close to full maturity for 8-10 years. It should last for four decades. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2065. Chateau Cheval Blanc, St Emilion 2000
100pt Parker wine! This closed, backward blend of 53% Merlot and 47% Cabernet Franc boasts a saturated purple color along with a reticent but striking bouquet of blackberries, blueberries, truffles, and mocha. In spite of its tightness, aeration reveals scents of licorice, menthol, and saddle leather. Opulent and full-bodied, with low acidity, sweet tannin, and a 60-second finish, it is unquestionably as profound as the 1990 and 1982. I still believe the 2000 has the potential to be the most compelling Cheval Blanc since the mythical 1947 and 1949, but patience is required. It should merit a three digit score in 7-10 years, but it is closed at present. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2030+. ROBERT PARKER

Chateau Kirwan, Margaux 2005
I remember tasting a number of Kirwans from the 19th century that had held up surprisingly well for over 100 years. While the 2005 will probably not last that long, it may be one of the finest wines this estate has made in the last fifty years. This brilliant, full-bodied, powerful, broodingly backward Margaux exhibits a dense purple hue along with notes of charcoal, licorice, blackberries, and graphite. Exceptionally concentrated, possessing high tannin, zesty acidity, and a 45-second finish, it should be purchased only by patient connoisseurs. Wine Advocate # 176 92+ Drink: 2016 - 2035

Chateau La Galante 2009
The first 2009 Bordeaux to land in Australia from this once in a life time vintage. This unoaked Bordeaux is an excellent depiction of the 2009 vintage, with loads of dark fruits and great concentration. If this is just entry level, the wines which land in 2012 are a must. I would be looking at buying En Primeur.

Chateau Lanessan, Haut-Medoc 2001
Lanessan's 2001 is a consistent overachiever in Haut-Medoc. This wine nearly rivals the outstanding 2000. It is a seriously-extracted, dark ruby/purple-colored offering with ripe cassis fruit, notes of leather and earth, and a hint of truffles. It is medium-bodied, pure, and savory, with copious tannin. It will age well for 10-15 years. Wine Advocate #140 Apr 2002 87-89 Points Drink: 2002 - 2017

Chateau Les Ormes de Pez, St Estephe 2005
A somewhat monolithic, one-dimensional effort from one of my favorite St.-Estephe estates, the medium-bodied, fruity 2005 Les Ormes de Pez exhibits sweet black currant, damp earth, and fresh mushroom-like characteristics. It should be consumed over the next 7-8 years. Wine Advocate # 176 86 Points Drink: 2008 - 2016
