Chateau Du Cedre 2008
90% Malbec and 5% Merlot, 5% Tannat. Aged 1/3 each new, 1y.o. & 2y.o. barrels. 2008 is a classic year for Cahors continuing the high standards set by the wines of the last several vintages. This is a big and bold wine, with copious quantities of layered fruit. It is almost black in colour, with chewy, rich black fruit flavours filling the mouth. Full and firm in structure with substantial fine tannic grip. This is a fabulous wine that always delivers the goods.

Chateau Lanessan, Haut-Medoc 2001
Lanessan's 2001 is a consistent overachiever in Haut-Medoc. This wine nearly rivals the outstanding 2000. It is a seriously-extracted, dark ruby/purple-colored offering with ripe cassis fruit, notes of leather and earth, and a hint of truffles. It is medium-bodied, pure, and savory, with copious tannin. It will age well for 10-15 years. Wine Advocate #140 Apr 2002 87-89 Points Drink: 2002 - 2017

Jean Foillard Morgon 2009
Deep purple/red in hue with intense aromas of wild cherry and plum and blackberry fruits of almost liqueur-like intensity. For me, the tell-tale Morgon calvados note is in the mix also (Anthony Hanson describes it as a sherry character in his book “Burgundy”) along with hints of licorice, roasted meats, deep exotic spice, garrigue and a jasmine top-note. Great depth of fruit in the mouth with a healthy dose of palate weight and dry extract. Flavours of wild cherry and plums. It’s medium-bodied, earthy and beautifully approachable…..etched with exotic spice, minerals, licorice, stone again with that calvados note and some ferrous nuance. Quite voluptuous in structure with lovely ripe, gravelly tannins and a lingering, herbal-edged finish that conjures up visions of cherry, cream & spice. Lovely gear! VINOFREAKISM

Jean Marc Burgaud Reserve 2009
Burgaud’s 2009 Morgon Cote de Py Reserve will consist of selected barrels from some of his oldest vines, probably including one barrel of Javernieres. I tasted a range of these, but inevitably tasted a less-close approximation to the finished blend, since each barrel Burgaud elects to include or to kick back to the “regular” bottling has less impact on that blend than it does on this limited reserve. Nutmeg-tinged blackberry and black raspberry inform the nose as well as the confitured, strikingly creamy and silken yet at the same time bright and vibratory palate, with toasted almond, peat, meat marrow, and burley tobacco adding dark complexity. This finishes with real authority. 92-93+ Points. Wine Advocate # 190
