Dettori Moscadeddu 2007
The 2007 Moscadeddu is a rich, honeyed dessert wine with fabulous intensity and length. Varietal Moscato notes emerge in an expansive, generous style. Apricot jam, tangerine, mint, spices and flowers are woven together in an intricate fabric of notable pedigree. This is a terrific effort from Dettori. Radikon Jakot 2003 1L
The Jakot is a gorgeous effort. The aromas could be mistaken for those of a traditionally made Barolo or Barbaresco. The wine reveals pretty inner sweetness is its core of perfumed apricots, flowers, mint and spices. There is notable density and richness in this quirky but delicious white from Friuli. Radikon Oslavje Riserva Ivana 1997
The 1997 Oslavje Riserva Ivana is an equally compelling white. It offers a touch more complexity than the Ribolla Riserva and perhaps a little more minerality as well. Sweet honeyed fruit, minerals, spices and flowers are just some of the nuances that emerge from this highly unusual white. Generally I prefer Radikon’s wines on the younger side, but as these two 1997 releases point out, the wines are capable of aging as well. The Oslavje Riserva Ivana is 40% Chardonnay, 40% Sauvignon and 20% Pinot Grigio aged in used French oak barrels, which Radikon has since abandoned for his whites. Wine Advocate
