Cullen 'Diana Madeline' Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

75% Cabernet, 25% Merlot. 18 Months in oak, 40% new. First year as the ‘Diana Madeline’ Cabernet Merlot. 13.5%Toasted nuts, vanilla and pan juices on the nose. This smelt ‘different’ to previous vintages. More modern, serious even. Red berries, plushness. Still unfurling. Palate is tight, warm and very long. Alcohol tastes like more than 13.5%. The most tannic wine in the whole lineup. Very dry & powerful. Could be a stunner, but a bit too bold at the moment. 18.3++/20 Andrew Graham Aug 09

Domaine les Fouques Cuvee Tradition Cotes de Provence 2016

A rare Provençal biodynamic estate !!

80% Grenache, 20% Cinsault. This rosé displays a wonderfully full fruited and fleshy appeal, showing more density and textural layering than many other Provence counterparts.  The low intervention winemaking throws elements of funk and texture, adding to the profile of peach, melon and wild strawberries.

Domaine les Fouques La Londe Cotes de Provence 2015

A rare Provençal biodynamic estate

59% Grenache, 33% Cinsault, 4% Syrah, 3% Rolle (Vermentino). 

Labelling AOP La Londe requires a lower juice yield per hectare which is 55hL/ha permitted for Côtes du Provence, 50hL/ha or less required for AOP La Londe. Correspondingly, Fouques’ top Rosé cuvée is an expression of greater volume, concentration and complexity.  More pronounced ripeness and phenolics with a bigger spectrum of melon, pomegranate and Jonathan apple fruit relative to the Cuvée Tradition Rosé, ultimately characterized by stonier mineral underpinnings and significantly greater length. A concentrated, layered, and intense wine which can be enjoyed in the same manner as a serious mineral white.  Calls for food - hugely versatile, though scallops, prawns and shellfish are a great start!

L'Aumerade, Cuvée Marie-Christine Cotes de Provence Rosé 'Cru Classe'  2016

This is a 'Cru Classe' Rose. Soft - light pink in colour. Very aromatic nose dominated by fresh fruit and flavors of grenadine. A full bodied and fruity but dry rosé goes well with Mediterranean and Asian cuisines. If you indulge in Rose's the like of Ott, D'Esclan etc, this will sit well in your spectrum.

Le Hameau des Ollieux ‘Lo Petit Fantet d’Hyppolite’ 2015

Located in Boutenac, just south of the village of Corbières in the Languedoc region, Ollieux Romanis is now one of the largest privately owned wineries in Corbières.

This certified Organic red is a blend of Carigan, Grenache and Syrah off 20 year old vines. Manual harvest, full carbonic maceration then fermentation with wild yeast in large concrete vats. Only natural yeast is used and no added sulphur.

Black cherry, thyme and wood-spice on the nose give way to soft fruit on the palate, with warming garrigues flavours. Plush, generous and VERY more-ish!

Passi Reali Vino Organico Appassimeto Bianco 2015

Appassimento refers to drying grapes and comes from one of the most ancient methods used to make wine. Passi Reale is made grying the grapes on the plants first - cordon cut method - then completing the process in the cellar with crates.

The white grapes are dried for a shorter period (15 days) than the reds (3 to 4 months) to retain more freshness. This wine is 70% Trebbiano and 30% Chardonnay. Wine is fermented on lees in tank then aged for 4 months in the vessel without racking. The dried element gives the wine some amazing aromatics and a soft, luscious mid palate.

Passi Reali Vino Organico Appassimeto Rosso 2015

100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo organically grown in the higher parts of the Abruzzo region. The red grapes are dried for 3 to 4 months then the vinification and maturation are carried out in stainless steel with 4 months aging before bottling. As lovers of Amarone can agree, the dried fruit/spice nose of this wine is very appealing.

Smallfry Barossa Joven 2015

45% Tempranillo, 40% Garnacha, 8% Monastrell, 5% Bastardo 2% Tinta Amerilia

'Winemakers Wayne & Suzi' - I spent a fantastic year living in Spain in my youth and the chance to try my own interpretation of this classic style gives me a thrill. We picked the Tempranillo quite early to capture some sour red cherry/ cranberry characters which in my mind are the perfect foil for some lovely old bush vine Garnacha.  Monastrell,  Bastardo and Tinta Amerilia fill out the back palate but the main focus of this wine is juicy red fruits and bright flavours. Barossa Pinot in a way this is a great food wine for matching with todays fresh flavours, like a red wine with your chicken/fish? This is it, paella is a natural combo. Soft tannin structures mean on a warm day you can take it out of the wine rack and pop it in an ice bucket while you drink it, ahh lovely.
