Chapoutier, Belleruche Rouge, 2007
The 2007 Cotes du Rhone Belleruche is a strong effort in this vintage from Michel Chapoutier. The wine is already delicious, showing notes of plum, black currant, and cherry in a straightforward, fruity style with good body and seductive aromatics. It is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah and should drink well for 4-5 years. 88pt. Wine Advocate # 173

Chateau Mont-Redon Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc 2009
Pale lemongreen. In the nose it is herbal with camomile, butter, green grassy aromas, lime and lemon. Also mineral aromas of stones, citric fruit and some sweet pear nuances. Very intensely flavoured in the palate. Concentrated but still very vibrant. Structure hints to good potential. Cellartracker

Clos des Papes, Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge 2009
I tasted through various foudres of the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape and it is unquestionably a top-flight wine for Clos des Papes that is seductive and forward by the standards of this estate. It reminded me of the precocious style of the 2003, and Avril told me the 2009 is less alcoholic than either the 2003 or 2007, and the pH is a normal 3.75. Yields were a very small 20 hectoliters per hectare, largely because of their selection process and the drought. Every foudre I tasted was beautifully pure displaying a deep ruby/plum color, sweet kirsch and black raspberry fruit, full body, decent acidity (they never acidify here) and sweet, velvety tannins. This should turn out to be a mid-90-point wine that will take a back seat to the 2007, possibly even to their monumental 2006, but will surpass what they did in 2008, 2005, 2004, 1999 and 1998. The 2009 is a beautiful success that should drink well for 15+ years. Drink 2010-2025 : 92-95 Points Robert Parker

Delas, Freres Hermitage "les Bessards" 2005
Black/purple to the rim, the sensational 2005 Hermitage Les Bessards possesses a classic bouquet of graphite, licorice, creme de cassis, and a touch of background oak. Massive, even monstrous in the mouth with enormous extract, this is a 50-60 year wine. It is full-bodied, high in tannin, and should not be touched for another decade. It will keep through 2050+. Domaine du Pegau, Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve 2008
“the 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee, which was harvested very late is a strong effort for the vintage. Tasting through four separate lots revealed that this wine should turn out as well as their 2004 or 2006. Plenty of pepper, roasted Provencal herb, lavender, licorice, and black fruit characteristics are present in this medium to fullbodied effort that is loaded with fruit. It should be surprisingly accessible for a wine from this estate in its exuberant youth, and is capable of lasting for 10‐15 years, an unusually long time for a 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape.” 89‐92pts The Wine Advocate # 185 October 2009 R.
