"The 2012 Chianti Classico is round, sweet and super-expressive. Dark red cherry, spice and tobacco meld together as this silky, open-knit Chianti Classico shows off its inviting personality. Succulent and racy to the core, the 2012 will drink well pretty much upon release. This is another fabulous showing from Fontodi." (92 Points – Antonio Galloni, vinousmedia.com)
The Sangiovese and Canaiolo grown on the Isole e Olena estate cover 290 hectares in the heart of the Chianti Classico hills between Florence and Siena. The wine is matured for about a year before bottling. It is then released after 3-4 months aging in the bottle. Dark ruby in color, the Chianti Classico has a clean and fresh perfumed nose of red cherry and strawberry. It is medium bodied and boasts copious floral, minty red berry and red cherry flavors of lovely purity, with a smooth yet vibrant texture nicely firmed by an edge of acidity.
The Chianti Classico Riserva is made from parcel of specially selected grapes grown on the Tignanello estate. It is an intensely flavoured Chianti with ripe red cherry flavours in abundance and notes of leather, tobacco and spice.
A Blend of 83% Sangiovese, 7% Merlot, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Colorino.
A lifted and generous nose, clearly benefiting from time in bottle, with aromas of ripe cherry, violets and licorice highlighted by notes of violets, leather and spice.
The palate is medium-bodied but builds nicely to a ripe mid-palate with rich red berry flavours, savoury spice and dried herbs.
This wine is so gluggable! Soft tannins, juicy red forest fruits, vibrant and alive on the palate. Organico too!
Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon
94 Points Tignanello is one of Italy’s most famous and highly sought-after wines. The 2014 vintage is “a wonderful Tignanello” according to James Suckling, “very well done”. It’s yet another excellent vintage for this rightly revered Super-Tuscan.
An intense ruby red in color with purple highlights, the wine shows an intense nose of currants & roses, darker red fruits along with hints of sweet spices and underbrush. On the palate, the flavours are fresh and vibrant with supple and balanced tannins. The finish and aftertaste are long and sustained.
