"Ever stylish, perfumed Pinot Noir from the Tracy Island vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula. Raspberry and squishy strawberries, subtle spice and earthiness, a perfume of rose and basil. Medium bodied, silky and fine, kind of succulent, but with a gentle drag of fine grained tannin giving structure and pushing out the length. Red drapes on a fine firm frame. Finish has a subtle herbal infusion, in with the pretty red fruits. Just lovely, as ever."

"Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, the 2014 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru from Vougeraie clearly has some stem addition on the nose but it works well: the fruit seems ripe and it does not obscure the terroir. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, sour cherry and strawberry with a fine line of acidity threaded through from start to finish, lending focus and harmony. Still a baby, give this 2-3 more years before broaching."
Tasted September 2017. - Neal Martin
The 2016 rosé has a pale cherry color with a slight copper tinge. It is full-bodied and well structured, with fresh red berry fruit, tart apple skin, and notes of spice and dried herbs. As usual, it is a blend of 41% Grenache, 33% Mourvedre, and 26% Cinsault all of which is direct-press juice. The color is a bit lighter than last year’s, but the wine has a bit more power behind it.
A rare Provençal biodynamic estate
59% Grenache, 33% Cinsault, 4% Syrah, 3% Rolle (Vermentino).
Labelling AOP La Londe requires a lower juice yield per hectare which is 55hL/ha permitted for Côtes du Provence, 50hL/ha or less required for AOP La Londe. Correspondingly, Fouques’ top Rosé cuvée is an expression of greater volume, concentration and complexity. More pronounced ripeness and phenolics with a bigger spectrum of melon, pomegranate and Jonathan apple fruit relative to the Cuvée Tradition Rosé, ultimately characterized by stonier mineral underpinnings and significantly greater length. A concentrated, layered, and intense wine which can be enjoyed in the same manner as a serious mineral white. Calls for food - hugely versatile, though scallops, prawns and shellfish are a great start!
