Vocoret 'Le Bas de Chapelot' Chablis 2016

The 2016 Chablis Bas de Chapelot has been in used barrels since March. It has a lovely bouquet, quite intense with subtle orange rind scents infusing the cold wet stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with good concentration on the entry and a fine line of acidity. This is not a complex Chablis but it does come replete with a spicy finish. I will be modest with my score for now as I discern more promise with respect to the premier cru Butteaux. Neal Martin, Wine Advocate 88-90/100

Vocoret 'Les Butteaux' 1er Cru Chablis 2015

'Pale yellow. Sexy brown spices and a hint of nectarine on the nose; nicely high-pitched for 2015. Very ripe. Very dry, savory Chablis with lovely mouth feel, but its rather austere, crushed-rock flavors will need time to blossom in bottle. Seriously concentrated, tactile wine with lovely rocky mineral character. This strikes me as rich in extract but quite backward for the year, almost peppery on the back end.' STEPHEN TANZER, Vinous Media

West Cape Howe, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2017
Multiple parcels of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc were selected from Great Southern, Blackwood Valley and Pemberton vineyards. The fruit was crushed with minimal sulphur and chilled prior to pressing, Free run and pressings juice portions were kept separate, with the pressings fined to remove phenolic compounds. After cold settling for 48 hours, the juices were racked and filtered, before inoculation with a specific yeast strain for this style. The juice was fermented at a steady rate over an 18-day period, with temperature closely monitored. At the conclusion of fermentation, the wines were racked and a final blend determined. The palate has a refreshing acidity. Good tropical fruit characters offer great intensity. A well-balanced style with a long, clean and refreshing finish.
