Ventisquero Reserva Carmenere 2017

Winemaker's note: A deep cherry red wine with maroon hues. The bouquet is intense and attractive with upfront fresh black and red fruit aromas such as blueberries, blackberries, blackcurrants, strawberries and cherries, as well as spicy and earthy notes that blend harmoniously with hints of chocolate and vanilla.

Vinea Marson Sangiovese 2012 Heathcote, VIC

Garnet red in colour, the 2012 Sangiovese possesses a concentrated nose of dark cherry, dried prunes and spicy cloves with hints of roasted coffee beans and a lick of vanilla. The palate is similarly complex - rich notes of tar & dark cherry. This sensory battle between savoury and fruit characters provides great complexity on the palate and is followed by firm and elegant tannins and a pleasing, long finish.

Vinea Marson Shiraz Viognier 2013 Heathcote, VIC
93% Shiraz, 7% Viognier

This estate wine has a deep red hue with blue tinges. On the nose a slight graphite quality is followed by attractive savoury notes of olive tapenade and a powerful core of dark fruits. A chalky palate with intense, ripe blackberry and blueberry flavours follows with integrated French oak on its long palate. This savoury wine displays firm and long tannins and concludes with great length. The flavour and textural complexity of the 2013 Shiraz Viognier exhibits Mario Marson’s skill as a winemaker and is indicative of the elegant Rhone-style reds that can be produced in Heathcote.

Yarra Yering No 2, 2014
Largely shiraz, with a small amount of mataro added and co-fermented with viognier and marsanne. Brought back an instant recollection of the Bayeux Tapestry. It commences with a Catherine wheel of aromas, flavours and textures which are astounding and - you think - leave nothing more to be said. But there's more, much more. For one thing, it is a sacrilege to spit out any of the wine when tasting it, for the autopilot is still working furiously trying to capture the interplay between the infinitely complex fruit flavours, the charcuterie, the spices, the earth, the tannins, the oak and the licorice. Screwcap closure. Drink by 2039. 98 points  James Halliday

Zenato Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2016

Although the Superiore designation requires that the grapes that go into this wine are harvested at a slightly higher sugar level than standard Valpolicella—thus producing a wine of potential higher alcohol—this Valpolicella is a soft, supple example of this classic wine.  Made predominately from Corvina, this wine displays the ripe black cherry flavors for which the grape is known. Drink now or will cellar well for up to 10 years. Highly Recommended!
