The Wine

Notes: Minsulphur

Candidate for my house wine of the year!
So glugable and with the perfect measure of sophistication to complete this super satisfying drop - not to mention the price tag!!

Its a delicious lip smacking spicy vibrant little number that is ready to go and will keep you going through those balmy spring evenings.

Winemaking notes: The varieties were fermented separately and blended together after five months of aging. In terms of specific details, the Sangiovese was destemmed and macerated for three weeks before pressing and elevage in stainless steel. The Pinot Noir was 100% whole bunch fermented, pressed after ten days, and aged in a mixture of stainless steel and 225L barriques. The Merlot and Syrah were macerated as 20% whole bunch for two weeks before being pressed into 500L puncheons. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered in August 2021 with a small addition of sulphur.

About the Wine Maker

Gentle Folk was started by Gareth & Rainbo Belton in 2013 vintage, with three barrels of wine made from Basket Range. Since then, a move to the Adelaide Hills initiated a steep educational curve to get to grips with biodynamic and organic farming and making wines in a dilapidated shed with no running water or electricity. With four sites now, they make an eclectic range of natural wines that buck convention, while also now drilling down on variety and site. Also, finalists in 2014 at Young Gun of Wine Awards
