The wine’s aromatic constellation is pure and complex, offering up scents of sweet cassis, dark berries, peonies, coffee bean, a complex base of soil tones, currant leaf, woodsmoke, pigeon and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and beautifully sappy at the core, with a lovely foundation of soil tones, ripe, buried tannins, impeccable balance, very good acids and a very long, vibrant and complex finish. Bouchard is led by Stéphane Follin Arbelet, while the wines are made by Philippe Prost - who has been with the company since 1978. An impressive gravity-flow winery on the Route de Savigny, the Cuvérie St Vincent, was completed in 2005 and enables them to process all their wines with optimum efficiency.
