There's a subtle gamey nuance on the palate that suffuses through the ripe fruit, adding another layer of complexity. Fine, silty tannins and a swoosh of sour cherry acidity at the back end. Heady aromas of black cherry, raspberry, cola and vanilla. On the palate it is ripe and plush without being overbearing. The black fruit is wonderfully integrated with anise, cinnamon and vanilla spice and, as it lingers, a smoky note comes through adding a savoury element to the flow. Wonderful length and poise, seamless from entry to the almost never-ending completion. Time will see more complexity build but it would be hard not to drink it right now.
