Castello di Meleto Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2016
The Wine
96/100 Huon Hooke : "Medium to deep red colour with a good rim of purple and a bouquet that holds dried-blood and ferrous notes overlying dried fruits, with red cherry and raspberry touches. Oak is certainly there, but is skilfully tucked in. The wine is deliciously fresh and appetising in the mouth, with penetrating flavour, lashings of gently gripping tannins and again that stony, ferrous flavour aspect chimes in strongly and lingers long in the aftertaste. The acidity, while not overt, keeps it fresh and lively. A powerful, concentated wine that should reward cellaring."
James Suckling : "Intense aromas of blueberries, blackberries and dried flowers. Medium to full body, firm and creamy tannins and a beautiful, layered finish. Lovely texture. Just coming around now, but will age nicely. Excellent improvement here."
