The Wine

Comprising 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, primarily from the younger vines and denser clay plots of Château Lescalle (terre fort translates to 'strong earth'), this blend yields a richly fruited wine designed for earlier drinking. The grapes are destemmed and undergo fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and concrete tanks. The extraction process involves pump-overs once or twice daily throughout the fermentation period, which usually lasts 3 to 4 weeks, before the wine matures in tanks for 12 months.

The wine is medium-bodied and charmingly elegant, offering accessible flavors of juicy berries complemented by savory tobacco undertones. The wine represents tremdous value!

About the Wine Maker

Constructed in 1875 by Emmanuel Tessandier, who subsequently served as the Mayor of Macau from 1876 to 1880. The vineyard thrives on 'palus,' a type of alluvial sandy clay located adjacent to the river. Remarkably, it is situated a mere 200 metres from the Haut-Médoc appellation and is only a 3-minute journey from Margaux.
