. The Wine

A very hands off made wine.  Winemaking with whole grape bunches; semi-carbonic fermentation in cement vats only. The wine retains its fresh, fruity character; it is bottled after 9 months of maturation, in vats.

From a plot of 50 year old vines located in the southern sector of Fleurie close to the border of Morgon. Produced from gnarled old goblet pruned vines grown on decomposed sandy pink granite and made from very low yields. This wine although substantial reflects it's Fleurie elegance as you'd expect compared to her Morgon.

About the Wine Maker

Clos de Mez is owned and run by Marie-Elodie Zighera-Confuron, who inherited a small collection of beautiful old vineyards in Beaujolais from her grand-mother which had been passed down through the family for generations and where she had spent time growing up as a child. Marie studied winemaking in Dijon. She is married to the owner of the great Burgundy Estate Confuron-Coteidot and she splits her time between here and Clos de Mez.  Jeremy Seysses of Domaine Dujac buys her wines for his cellar which is an endorsement itself!
