The Wine
No oak is used in the 'Solis', making it approachable and fruity, with a soft, supple texture. Still solidly built, with depth and presence however, it offers notes of blueberry and violet, with silky tannins, and a refreshing herbal finish, that is typical of high quality Malbec.

About the Wine Maker
In 1999 Matthieu Cosse and Catherine Maisonneuve established Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve at Prayssac, near Cahors. With his experience in a cooperative cellar in the South West of France, Matthieu and with Catherine who was straight out of the famous Chateau Leovillle Las Cases (Bordeaux), they produced their first vintage together in 1999 from a small plot of 5 ha they managed in “fermage” (rented). They have since purchased this holding and have gone on to expand the Domaine's holding.
They're making some outstanding wines – very elegant, precise and lifted with a wonderful drinkability. No new oak is used in the ‘elevage’, only old barrels of several wines. Certified organic and working with some biodynamic principles. Their wines are charming and approachable, words not usually associated with the wines Cahors!
