The Wine

"The 2015 Marsannay Le Clos de Jeu is also showing well, revealing lovely notes of ripe cherries, cassis, red plums and candied peel, with hints of dark chocolate emerging as the wine sits in the glass. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, fleshy but incisive, with fine but youthfully chewy tannins, excellent concentration and a bright, lively finish. It’s one of the highlights of Collotte’s excellent 2015 Marsannay collection. Drink 2018-2030." 90 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate, February 2020

About the Wine Maker

The Collottes have been grape growers in Marsannay for four generations, but it wasn’t until 1981 that a young, 16 year-old Philippe Collotte bottled the first wine under the name of Domaine Collotte. In 2013 Philippe was joined by his daughter Isabelle (pictured above) who had just completed her viticulture and oenology studies at the Lycée Viticole de Beaune. Whilst Isabelle focusses particularly on the production of the domaine’s white wines, there is no doubt that her addition to the team has helped refine the quality of the wines across the board. One thing to remember is not to drink these wines too cold - they have great substance that builds further complexity with some air. This is a source of very attractively priced Burgundy!
