The Wine

The name of this 1er cru, a monopole from Domaine Faiveley, most probably originates from the English "My Land", the name given to this area by an English dignitary. This clos produces a powerful, direct and well-balanced wine. The nose reveals notes of black and red fruits combined with subtle woody and smoky notes. The palate offers the same rich, fruity aromas as the nose. This full-bodied wine has a velvety tannic backbone which gives a sensation of warmth on the smooth finish.

About the Wine Maker

It was Guy Faiveley who in 1964 decided to expand the vineyard holdings of Domaine Faiveley into the Côte Chalonnaise mainly in the Village of Mercurey, The main reason for the purchase was to be able to offer good value wines from Burgundy since already back then the wines from the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune were expensive! Mercurey is mainly a red appellation but there is a small amount of Mercurey Blanc made from Chardonnay both on village and premier cru sites.
