The Wine

In 2021, Chablis lost around 60% of their crop which impact the supply of Laroche's Petit Chablis. As an alternative, they created a ‘Chardonnay’ using the same label. The wine is not from Chablis but sourced from selected high altitude cool climate plots in the Limoux region. The vines, a minimum of 30 years old, are deeply rooted in a mosaic of mainly clay and limestone soils, yielding outstanding raw materials. Hand harvested, the wine is aged in old barrels and is enriched by resting on it's lees for a period. Fresh, fruity, well balanced with a subtle mineral undercurrent, it offers an excellent chance to highlight Laroche's mastery and Burgundy-style vinification

Highly drinkable Chablis lookalike - super value! TC

About the Wine Maker

The Laroche family has been making wine in Chablis since 1850. Michel Laroche, the fifth generation, arrived in 1967 to continue a long tradition of allowing the wine to express its unique origin: The True Chablis. Michel has witnessed significant changes in Chablis and is the first generation to make a living exclusively from producing and selling wine.

Domaine Laroche is one of the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy, with offices located in the birthplace of Chablis: a ninth to sixteenth century listed monastery called l’Obédiencerie, where monks made the first Chablis.
