The Wine

A deep cherry colour with a pleasant bouquet of red and black fruits, as well as flowers (Violet). The taste is both silky and suave, full of elegance. Soft tannins flow through right to the end. Drink early in order to take advantage of the fruit or keep in the cellar a few years. Great match with poultries, or white meat.

From 3 separate parcels with two-thirds in Les Vergelesses and one-third in Basses Vergelesses.

91 Pts Allen Meadows, Burghound - Outstanding 'This is aromatically similar to the straight Pernand though the mouthfeel of the slightly bigger and more powerful flavors is finer while offering notably better depth and persistence on the youthfully austere finale. Worth checking out. Drink: 2028+'

87-89 Pts Neal Martin, Vinous 'The 2021 Savigny-les-Beaune Les Vergelesses ler Cru Rouge has a pleasing, airy and open-knit bouquet with brambly dark fruit and hints of iodine and oyster shell. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, strawberry pastilles and moderate weight towards the finish. There's a dash of white pepper on the aftertaste. Drink over five to seven years.

About the Wine Maker

Domaine Dubreuil-Font is a remarkable yet understated producer in Burgundy, crafting exceptional wines from their base in the charming hamlet of Pernand-Vergelesses, located just north of Beaune. Perhaps it is this tranquil setting, removed from the intense pursuit of wines further north in Côte de Nuits, that has allowed the domaine to remain relatively undiscovered. This, in turn, has kept their wines accessible at prices far below the escalating norms of Burgundy.

The domaine is run by fifth-generation winemaker and owner Christine Gruère-Dubreuil, who is also joined by her daughter Clémentine. While their holdings extend as far south as Volnay Pommard, the majority of their production focuses Pernand, encompassing sites on Corton grand cru hillside and the premier cru of Sav-lès-Beaune, Les Vergelesses  All red wines are destemmed and aged for 12-15 months barrel, with new oak usage ranging from 35% grand cru wines to a of 15% for the of their portfolio
