The Wine

"The 2019 Mercurey Vieilles Vignes offers up inviting aromas of raspberries, plums, spices and rich soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, melting and succulent, with lively acids and powdery tannins, it's produced from 30 or so hectares of vineyards and sees 13 months in barrels, 10% of which are new." 90/100 Robert Parkers Wine Advocate

About the Wine Maker

It was Guy Faiveley who in 1964 decided to expand the vineyard holdings of Domaine Faiveley into the Côte Chalonnaise mainly in the Village of Mercurey, The main reason for the purchase was to be able to offer good value wines from Burgundy since already back then the wines from the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune were expensive! Mercurey is mainly a red appellation but there is a small amount of Mercurey Blanc made from Chardonnay both on village and premier cru sites.
