Pooley Riesling 2020
The Wine
96 points, James Halliday, January 2021 "The 2020 Pooley Riesling comes entirely from estate vineyards being a blend of fruit from younger vines from Butchers Hill (60%) and Cooinda Vale (40%). Whole bunch pressed and aged for 5 months on fine lees before bottling. An ideal vintage for Tasmania and for the Coal River region this wine carries 11.8% alc, pH 2.99 with residual sugar of 8 g/l balanced by very refreshing high acidity of 9.1 g/l TA. 'From the estate Butcher's Hill and Cooinda Vale Vineyards, whole-bunch pressed and fermented with a specialised (riesling) yeast. A lovely wine, that delicately paints the mouth with its kaffir-lime-juice flavours, cosseted with layered, harmonious acidity. Great length too. Drink by 2033."
