The Wine

First made in 1977, this entry level Montepulciano is the ultimate value ‘pizza wine’, although it goes with just about anything. Highlighting the varietal characteristics (plum and morello cherry) with freshness (no oak), the result is a pleasing and versatile easy-to-drink wine.

About the Wine Maker

The Bernetti family, owners of Umani Ronchi, have been at the forefront of the quality revolution for the Marches' native Verdicchio variety. Situated near Ancona on central Italy's eastern coast, the vine thrives in the gentle climate, benefiting from hilly landscapes, abundant sunshine, cool evenings, and the Adriatic's moderating sea breezes. The Bernettis possess over 200 hectares of premium vineyards across the Marche (110 in Verdicchio Classico and 60 in Rosso Conero) and Abruzzo (30 in the esteemed 'Colline Teramane', the area's first DOCG designation). Esteemed Piedmontese Oenologist Beppe Caviola leads the winemaking team, building upon the substantial foundation laid by the retired consultant and renowned Italian winemaker, Giacomo Tachis.
