The Wine

91-93 Points Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com 'The Château de Nalys was acquired by the Guigal family in 2017. It enjoys an exceptional position in the heart of the appellation opposite the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and its famous Papal Palace. This is one of the oldest properties of the appellation, referenced in the land register already at the end of the 16th Century. The famous 13 grape varieties of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation are carefully cultivated here. There are three plots surrounding the Château, the first of which takes the name of the estate: “Nalys” and the others sit on two of the great terroirs of the appellation: “le Bois Sénéchal” and “La Crau”. The 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Saintes Pierres is fruity and ripe, with scents of mint, black cherries and purple raspberries. Full-bodied and velvety textured, it finishes with ample length and a touch of licorice. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes.'

About the Wine Maker

The Château de Nalys was acquired by the Guigal family in 2017. The Guigal Estate has selected and matured wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape since its founding in 1946 by Etienne Guigal. The terroirs of Nalys were love at first sight for Marcel and Philippe Guigal, son and grandson of the founder, who finally realise a dream spanning three generations to join this prestigious and historic appellation. Going forward at Château de Nalys, the two of them will bring passion and rigour, their family quality philosophy, and the ambition of waving the flag of Châteauneuf-du-Pape at the very highest level.
