The Wine

From vines near Montmains

91 Pts 'Five Stars' Jasper Morris MW 'There is more yellow in the colour here than the Petit Chablis, with an exceptional intensity that makes it almost hard to taste. Immaculate youthful bitterness and great length.'

90 Pts 'Outstanding' Allen Meadows, Burghound 'Here too there is good freshness to the slightly riper aromas of grapefruit, quinine and sea breeze. The overtly rich and lush medium-bodied flavors possess an opulent mouthfeel along with a lovely texture while offering markedly better complexity on the balanced and lingering finish. This is really quite pretty and a wine that should amply reward mid-term cellaring Drink 2025+'

About the Wine Maker

For seasoned French wine lovers, François Raveneau is no surprise. It’s a cornerstone name in Chablis, notoriously hard to access and a benchmark for collectors. The wines are coveted because production is truly limited and demand has never waned.

The estate was founded in 1948, when François Raveneau consolidated his family’s vineyard plots. The philosophy remains much the same: a family-run operation with low volumes, a focus on pristine fruit, careful farming, and letting the vineyards speak for themselves. For over seventy years, Chablis Domaine Raveneau has stayed true to this path.

The vineyards sit on classic Chablis terroir—Kimmeridgian marl and limestone rich with fossilized shells. This matters more than any stylistic tweak, giving the wines their mineral tension and subtle saline edge collectors prize. Nothing is forced here. No new oak—just older barrels that shape texture without imposing flavor.

These wines take their time. Many vintages need a decade or more to reveal themselves, and even then, they change gradually.
