The Wine

From the Winemakers- A Cru from the Bugey appellation, this is a sparkling rosé wine, very fruity, original, with aromas of red fruits: cherry, redcurrant, raspberry, blackcurrant….
Its mousse is fine and light thanks to a slow natural fermentation in the bottle.

It is light (8°), best enjoyed chilled as an aperitif or with dessert.

Cerdon is made from a blend of two grape varieties, with a majority of Gamay and Poulsard.
We exclusively produce Cerdon vinified using the ancestral method.

About the Wine Maker

Patrick and Catherine Bottex have farmed a small plot of land in the Cerdon sub region of Bugey since 1991 producing a tiny amount of their intriguing bubbles. Hidden between Savoie, Jura, Burgundy and the Rhone, this little gem of a region has only 470 hectares of grapes.

The estate cultivates six hectares of vines in the commune of Poncin, in the small hamlet of La Cueille, a traditional wine‑growing village. The vineyard is planted with Gamay and Poulsard, the two emblematic grape varieties of Cerdon. Cerdon itself is produced from a blend of these grapes, with Gamay making up the majority.

The domaine produces only Cerdon, crafted exclusively using the ancestral method. All vineyard parcels are grass‑covered to reduce herbicide use and to protect the sloping terrain from erosion. Pesticide use is kept to a minimum, and only natural organic fertilizers are applied to preserve the character of the terroir.

The estate holds High Environmental Value certification, reflecting its commitment to sustainable viticulture. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand, ensuring careful selection and respect for the fruit.
