About the Wine Maker
It was Guy Faiveley who in 1964 decided to expand the vineyard holdings of Domaine Faiveley into the Côte Chalonnaise mainly in the Village of Mercurey, The main reason for the purchase was to be able to offer good value wines from Burgundy since already back then the wines from the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune were expensive!
Mercurey is mainly a red appellation but there is a small amount of Mercurey Blanc made from Chardonnay both on village and premier cru sites.
The 27 acre vineyard La Framboisière is a monopole of Domaine Faiveley and is located in the heart of Mercurey’s 1er Crus to the northeast of the village. Vines date back as far as 1949 and are planted in soils of clay and limestone.
