Available for pre-purchase now!
A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre from 40-year-old vines rooted in ancient alluvial soils with red clay and gravel. The grapes are hand-picked, given extended maceration, then pressed into oak foudres—half of which are new—for a two-year maturation.
93 Pts Josh Raynolds, Vinous 'Full ruby color. The deeply perfumed nose showcases cherry, dark berries, licorice, savory herbs and olive notes. Concentrated, spice-laced cassis, cherry-cola and candied lavender flavors smoothly blend depth and vivacity. Polished tannins come in slowly on a very long, penetrating finish that strongly repeats the cherry and floral notes. Drink 2025 - 2032.'
93 Pts Anna-Christina Cabrales, Wine Enthusiast Mag 'This wine provides a wonderful introduction to the region, especially for the price-point within its class. Juicy ripe rhubarb, wild strawberry, blackberry and savory herbs coat the palate with an impressive saline finish. Enjoy its youthful concentration now or cellar through 2030+.'
93 Pts Michael Apstein, WRO 'This Gigondas shows Guigal’s talents for finding suppliers and creating a stellar wine. Unlike Côte Rôtie and Hermitage, Guigal owns no vineyards in Gigondas, so the house buys wine from local growers and blends them. A typical southern Mediterranean blend of Grenache (70%), Syrah (20%) and Mourvèdre, this mid-weight Gigondas brings together a seamless balance of dark fruit, spice, and minerals. Its suave texture makes it ideal to drink now with hearty winter fare.'
92 Pts Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 'Strawberries and raspberries join olives and green hay on the nose of the 2019 Gigondas. It's a solid example of the appellation, showcasing the elegant side of the stylistic spectrum—not something that I always associate with the Guigal name, but there it is. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky textured and ready to drink, with charming fruit and enough complexity to keep me going back for sip after sip. Drink 2024 - 2035.'
