The Wine

Harvested in the cool of the morning & softly pressed. Fermented slowly in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to preserve the floral and fleshy flavours. Aromas of stone fruit and lemon peel are perfectly balanced by fresh acidity to give a crisp, dry and mouth-watering finish. A wine that showcases the textural nature of Marlborough Pinot Gris

Wine Orbit: 93 points (5 Stars) : Youthfully charming and splendidly fruited on the nose showing apricot, Asian pear, white floral and lemon zest aromas. The palate delivers succulent fruit intensity, beautifully complemented by fleshy texture and rounded mouthful, leading to a lengthy refreshing finish. At its best: now to 2025.

About the Wine Maker

MOUNT FISHTAIL – THE MYTH, THE LEGEND.

High above the plains of Marlborough, New Zealand’s premium wine growing region for Sauvignon Blanc, one can see Mount Fishtail’s peak standing as a sentinel looking over the many quality vineyards in the area. This double peaked mountain is an inspiring omen and lead to a range of wines being released under its name.

Each day, these vineyards enjoy a splendid view of Mount Fishtail in the Richmond Ranges. And each year these grapes produce the characteristic vintages that make the classic Mount Fishtail range of wines.

A COMMITMENT TO HANDCRAFTED WINES

Quality is the absolute focus of Mount Fishtail wines and it starts in the vineyard. Here, no short cuts are taken in making a truly great wine, and this continues in the winery where ‘handcrafting’ is the applied standard.

Being a family-run business, control over quality is truly ‘hands on’. Through every day personal involvement, a focus on quality, and a commitment to wine lovers, makes this a labour of love.

Mount Fishtail's philosophy is: "the best fertilizer is the foot of the farmer".
