Legend has it that the Lord of Montrachet apportioned his lands between his two sons. The first became a knight during the Crusades, while the illegitimate second gave rise to the name Bâtard-Montrachet. Chevalier- Montrachet crowns the upper part of Montrachet with a horizontal band, consisting of four terraces with significantly different subsoil, offering this exceptional Grand Cru four facets. We acquired several plots during the 19th century, and are now the main owner and, more importantly, the only one present on all four terraces.

Harvested 4 September. 35% new oak, 20 months in barrel. There's a significant hit of wood – but it's clearly very high-quality wood. A super-elegant Chavalier with finesse allied to underlying power. Lingering freshness. Understated and, no doubt, will blossom. Drink 2028 - 2040'
93-96 Pts Dont Miss Allen Meadows, Burghound 'This is also notably ripe but fresh with a bit more evident wood influence on the overtly phenolic-suffused nose of beautifully spiced pear and apple compote along with a similar array of floral and citrus nuances. As is virtually always the case, the larger-scaled flavors possess more size, weight and power if not quite the same minerality on the superbly long finish that is also very much constructed to repay extended keeping.

About the Wine Maker
Vignoble des Cabottes is the new name for some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. Founded in 2025, the estate brings together 35 hectares of historic climats: 10 hectares of Grand Cru on the slopes of Puligny-Montrachet and Corton hill, plus 22 hectares of Premier Cru in Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Meursault, and Volnay. The 2023 vintage marks its first release, born from one of Burgundy’s most notable recent restructurings.
After Groupe Artémis acquired Bouchard Père et Fils, the holdings were carefully divided. Vignoble des Cabottes received the most prestigious parcels—Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Le Corton, and top Beaune Premiers Crus like Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus and two historic monopoles. Many of these plots have been under Bouchard’s ownership since the late 18th and 19th centuries. Longtime caretaker of these vineyards, winemaker Frédéric Weber, now leads the new estate, while the remaining Côte de Beaune vineyards remain under the Bouchard Père name with Mickael Baroin, Weber’s longtime oenologist, at the helm.
The first vintages carry the Vignoble des Cabottes label. French law initially barred the use of the Domaine designation for a new estate, even though all wines were estate-grown and domaine-produced. Starting with the 2025 vintage, the name changes to Domaine des Cabottes, reflecting the domaine spirit present from the beginning.
The name pays homage to the Cabottes, small drystone shelters scattered across the Côte d’Or vineyards, and honors a cuvée crafted since 1997: Chevalier-Montrachet La Cabotte, a 0.21-hectare parcel at the meeting point of Montrachet and Chevalier-Montrachet, where one of the estate’s Cabottes still overlooks the vines.
