The Wine

17/20 Jancis Robinson MV 'This is a blend based around two classic Jerez wines: a dry Fino Sherry, and a Moscatel. These wines are infused with wormwood, marjoram, rosemary, gentian, orange peel and camomile to give the whole an incredibly complex bouquet. This works in many cocktails but is more commonly drunk over ice as an apéritif. (Rob Whitehead) Good labels and inventiveness! Very pale straw. Botanicals smell is very herbal and natural and appealing, if a bit like the cosmetics in a department store. I like the bitterness though and am grateful to Berry Brother’s & Rudd to have forced me to taste this. SO much more exciting than the average commercial vermouth. Bitter certainly.

About the Wine Maker

Emilio Lustau, established in 1896, began as a modest family enterprise until the founder's son-in-law transformed it into a commercial business. The company is renowned for introducing the Almacenista system, which produces distinct dry sherries from small private estates. These sherries are bottled under the Lustau name, yet also feature the individual bodega's name on the label. Currently, they are some of the most coveted Sherries in the region. Additionally, the firm crafts exceptional wines from the Montenegrillo vineyard, a recent acquisition spanning 170 hectares.
