The Wine
Le Corton Grand Cru stands as the crown jewel of one of Burgundy’s most distinguished estates — a wine produced from the largest privately held parcel in the Corton Grand Cru appellation by a house whose presence on the Côte de Beaune dates back to 1731.
92-95 Pts Allen Meadows, Burghound 'Here the wood treatment is a bit more discreet though it's still not subtle on the exceptionally cool and fresh but ripe nose that offers up plenty of sauvage and earth hints that suffuse the black cherry and lilac scents. The dense, bold and overtly muscular and powerful big-bodied flavors possess an abundance of sappy extract that coats the palate and buffers the extremely firm tannic spine on the immensely persistent finish that is less austere than it usually is. This is breathtakingly good and despite my extended drinking window, it should be approachable after only 7 to 8 years.'
91-94 Pts Stephen Tanzer, Vinous 'Bright red-ruby. Medicinal scents of kirsch and licorice show a positive burnt note. Distinctly tighter and more clenched than the Pommard Rugiens, without the early pliancy of that wine but with terrific energy and clarity to its black fruit and licorice flavors. This very young, juicy, firmly tannic wine needs time to harmonize but has all the elements to make a superb bottle.'

About the Wine Maker 
Today the Burgundian wine domaine of Bouchard Pere et Fils can trace its origins back to 1731, though it is no longer family owned. In 1995 the Champagne house Joseph Henriot acquired the company and quality has risen as a consequence. Bouchard is led by Stéphane Follin Arbelet, while the wines are made by Philippe Prost - who has been with the company since 1978. An impressive gravity-flow winery on the Route de Savigny, the Cuvérie St Vincent, was completed in 2005 and enables them to process all their wines with optimum efficiency. Bouchard’s total holdings comprise 130 hectares, including 12ha of grand crus and 74ha of premier crus, which makes them the largest vineyard owners in the Côte d’Or.
