Chateau Maucamps Haut-Medoc 2006
The Wine

Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) with Merlot making up 35% of the blend and Petit Verdot rounding out the classic blend with 5% of the final blend. The percentage of new oak is kept to a minimum to ensure the fruit speaks clearly at all stages of the wines long and graceful evolution. This is wine which typically ages effortlessly for up to 20 years or more while also being enjoyable in their youth. Great intro into classic left bank cabernet dominant Bordeaux. You can see the river from the vineyard which is a great tell tail sign of a good left banker!
91 Pts Natalie Maclean Nov 2023 'Château Maucamps 2006 is a dry, full-bodied and mature right bank Bordeaux that is reaching its peak. Flinty with ripe dark fruits, dried sweet tobacco leaf and cassis flavours typical to the Haut-Médoc in Bordeaux. A supple red wine blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot elegant and balanced with good acidity for food, with a long and silky finish and polished tannins. Drink or hold.'
94 Pts John Szabo, MS Nov 2022 'Lovely, mature right bank Bordeaux here, straight from the textbook with its gravelly, graphite, black fruit, tobacco leaf, and cassis aromas/flavours, as complex and inviting as many more expensive cru classés. The palate has been polished down to shiny-silky texture with acids firmly in place - this 2006 vintage has turned out to be a delight for fans of the classic style, more elegant and refined than blockbuster vintages, and all the better for it. Stately and aristocratic, and an amazing value for mature, ready-to-drink, quality Bordeaux. ....'
Decanting recommended - there may be some sediment at the base of the bottle.
