Domaine de Bichery Coteaux Champenois Pinot Noir 2018 MAGNUM
The Wine
We met with Raphael and Hannah at the Domaine in October 2022 - tasting from tank, barrel and bottles. We can attest to the quality and potential of this quality focused organic Domaine. They're the face of a new generation emerging in Champagne - cutting edge!
Coteaux Champenois red wines are made exclusively from Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier, with the AOC dictating the specific grapes, volumes, yields, vinification and ageing. This version is extremely good - first impression, a high quality 1er Cru Burgundy!
These Pinot Noir Grapes come from our plot “La Source” with an entirely southern orientation, located at the backend of a closed vale. In summertime, we easily reach temperatures above 30 degrees. Its red soil is quite draining, and the almost 30-year-old Pinots come from a typical Burgundian clone. Domaine de Bichery

About the Wine Maker
Domaine de Bichery is a relatively new project of Raphael and Hannah with their first production in 2015. In 2013 after numerous winemaking positions around the globe, Raphael Picconet returned to his family's operation in the Cote des Bar. The family's vineyards have now been split between Domaine de Bichery and Raphael's brother who operates separately.
The Domaine now owns numerous old vine vineyards in the surrounding area - Neuville Sur Seine, Meurville & Cote des Bar. The plantings comprise of 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and a minor component of Pinot Meunier. The Domaine is certified organic by ECOCERT. The Domaine produces both Champagne and Coteaux Champenois (still) wine.
