Dubreuil-Fontaine Bourgogne Rouge Notre de Bonne Esperance 2023
The Wine
The 2023 offers an inviting bouquet of crushed blackberries and raspberries. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied with a gentle, spicy start, balanced density, and a satisfying finish of blackberry and strawberry. Super Value!
87 Pts 'Outstanding-Top Value' Allen Maedows, Burghound 'The DetailsRipe aromas blend notes of various red berries and soft earth where the latter element is reflected by the succulent, round and delicious middle weight flavors that possess good volume while exhibiting solid length on the youthfully austere and lightly rustic finale. Note that this is firm enough to repay a few years of keeping and overall, it's a quality Bourgogne.'
87 Pts Jasper Morris MW 'Attractive fresh ruby. Very elegant floral pinot fruit, ripe and not dilute. Juicy raspberry fruit on the palate, well balanced and pleasingly accessible.'

About the Wine Maker
Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine is a remarkable yet understated producer in Burgundy, crafting exceptional wines from their base in the charming hamlet of Pernand-Vergelesses, located just north of Beaune. Perhaps it is this tranquil setting, removed from the intense pursuit of wines further north in Côte de Nuits, that has allowed the domaine to remain relatively undiscovered. This, in turn, has kept their wines accessible at prices far below the escalating norms of Burgundy.
The domaine is run by fifth-generation winemaker and owner Christine Gruère-Dubreuil, who is also joined by her daughter Clémentine. While their holdings extend as far south as Volnay Pommard, the majority of their production focuses Pernand, encompassing sites on Corton grand cru hillside and the premier cru of Savigny-lès-Beaune, Les Vergelesses All red wines are destemmed and aged for 12-15 months barrel, with new oak usage ranging from 35% grand cru wines to a of 15% for the of their portfolio
