The Wine

95 pts - Kim Brebach (BWU20) 'Generous organic red with seductive fruit and velvety texture, balanced by firm but gentle tannins. Good line and length. Perfect (up-market) bistro wine.'

93 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot) 'From Sicily, this is their organic Nero (wines under their Queto label are organic). These grapes are grown 300 metres above sea level with fermentation on skins for around a week. The wine then spends ten months maturing in stainless steel, with a small percentage spending six months in French oak barriques. Deep maroon in colour, the nose exhibits notes of roast meats, warm earth, soy and coffee beans, with licorice and cloves. Delicious, mouthfilling flavours here. The structure shows us a wine with a supple texture, good acidity and sleek tannins. Impressive stuff. Now and for the next half dozen years. Worth seeking out.'

About the Wine Maker

Thanks to its unique location in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily has always been at the crossroads of maritime trade routes and international influence. Feudo Arancio – the Orange Farm – cultivates two estates along the southern coast of the island, in Sambuca and Acate.

This respected winery crafts refined, accessible and authentic expressions of varietals native to the island. The carefully mapped vineyards are a tapestry of soil types, elevations and exposures, with each plot planted to the variety to which it is best suited. Bathed in intense sun and with a climate of dry winds it is ideal for the production of very enjoyable wines, representing the memorable, unique and authentic flavours of beautiful Sicily.

Feudo Arancio is passionate about sustainability and was the first Italian winery to receive the ECO Management and Audit Scheme certification for the entire productive chain (obtained in 2002). The creation of Feudo Arancio and its facilities was done with the environment in mind and every step of the production has been created in the most sustainable way possible.

The Feudo Arancio team aims to reflect the unique qualities of the island of Sicily and its longstanding history as a Mediterranean paradise in their brand and wines. Check out the range of Grillo, Inzollia, Nero d’Avola, Rostato and Rosso along with a cheeky desert wine plus our new release organic range below.
