The Wine

96 Pts Jeb Dunnock 'A bright ruby hue, the 2022 Barolo Bussia reveals deeper-toned aromatics of ripe cherries, spice, dark stones, and forest herbs. Medium-bodied, it carries greater richness and mineral depth while remaining mouthwatering and energetic. Compared to the Brunate, which leans toward iron and citrus notes, Bussia shows more graphite-like structure and darker fruit character. The palate balances ripe tannins with refreshing acidity and persistent length. Drink 2026-2046. 4,000 bottles were produced.'

95 Pts Winer Advocate 'The Giuseppe Rinaldi 2022 Barolo Bussia emerges as the strongest wine in this Barolo trio, showing greater completeness and harmony than Brunate in a growing season that clearly favored this historic site. The oldest vines on the estate, planted largely in the 1950s and 1960s and never entirely replanted, lend the wine impressive depth and authority. From the outset, Bussia is remarkably expressive, offering rounded fruit, beautiful aromatic intensity and the broadest structure of the three 2022 Barolos. Although it spent a comparatively shorter 30 months in large oak casks, six months less than Brunate, the wine possesses the longest runway for aging, with the concentration and balance to reward extended cellaring. Since the passing of their father, Giuseppe "Beppe" Rinaldi, in 2018, sisters Marta and Carlotta have devoted even greater attention to meticulous farming, and the quality of this wine speaks to that unwavering commitment in the vineyard.'

About the Wine Maker

Giuseppe Rinaldi is among Piedmont’s most esteemed producers and a prominent champion of classic Langhe wines. Known as ‘Beppe,’ Rinaldi, a devoted traditionalist, took over the estate from his father in 1992 and upheld the time-honored winemaking style that had grown increasingly popular.
