Jean Foillard Morgon 'Cuvee Corcelette' 2023
The Wine
Gamay from 80 year old vines, grown on sandstone soils rather than the Schist and Granite which Cote du Py is on. Whole cluster fermentation. Aged for 6-9 months in old oak barrels as well as a large foudre (barrels). Finely woven, this is a more delicate, supple, and feminine expression that’s reflective of its terrior and in keeping with the Foillard fingerprint. Drink now with a decant or cellar up to 10yrs +
92 Pts Neal Martin, Vinous The 2023 Morgon Cuvée Corcelette comes from well-drained granite soils and is aged for nine months in used barrel. It has a perfumed bouquet of incense that blossoms with aeration, as touches of brown spice infuse the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and transparent with finely chiselled tannins, exquisite balance and a dab of white pepper towards the sustained finish. This very classy Morgon is difficult to resist.'
