About the Wine Maker
Marc-Antonin Blain, son of Jean-Marc and Claudine (Blain-Gagnard above), was raised amidst the vineyards of Chassagne. However, it was his time spent in Australia and New Zealand that ignited his winemaking fervor.
Upon returning to France, it was under the tutelage of his grandfather, Jacques Gagnard, a nonconformist in the wine industry, that Marc-Antonin came to understand the distinctive terroir of his Chassagne-Montrachet homeland. He adopted the traditions and expertise inherited from his family both in the vineyard and the cellar.
In 2009, Marc-Antonin founded his own winery in the core of Chassagne. He continues to cultivate vines that have been part of his family legacy since 1683, a responsibility bestowed upon him by his grandfather shortly before his passing.
Marc-Antonin is dedicated to sustainable viticulture, reducing interventions in the vineyard to protect and nurture the vines. Growing grass between the rows encourages microbial life in the soil, aiding the plants in achieving harmony with the wider terroir.
