The Wine
This is a darker, more expansive Tumbarumba Pinot Noir: black cherry, red plum and spice, with gentle earth notes and more drive through the finish than usual. There is still freshness and line, but the overall feel is broader, riper and more assertive, while remaining distinctly regional. Moppity

93 Pts Campbell Mattinson 'There’s substance to this Pinot Noir but there’s also a perfumed prettiness. It tastes of red cherries and plums with peppercorn and smoked bacon notes, though it’s the rush of violets and vanilla pod that really lifts and enlivens it. Tannin in this wine is well placed and it follows through appreciably on the finish, but the key take-home of this wine is that it feels more-ish at every step along the way.'

About the Wine Maker 
Jason Brown and wife Alecia, with backgrounds in fine wine retail and accounting, purchased Moppity Vineyards in 2004 when it was already 31 years old. Initially they were content to sell the grapes to other makers, but that changed with the release of the ’06 Shiraz, which won top gold in its class at the London International Wine & Spirit Competition.
In Nov ’09 the ’08 Eden Road Long Road Hilltops Shiraz, made from Moppity Vineyards grapes, won the Jimmy Watson Trophy. These awards are among a cascade of golds for its Shiraz, Riesling, Tumbarumba Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Production (and sales) have soared and all the grapes from the estate are now used for the Moppity Vineyards brand. The Lock & Key range provides exceptional value for money.
