Neldner Road Herrmann Kalimna Shiraz 2021
The Wine
'Intense aromas of blueberry, blackberry jam, vanilla musk and olive tapenade with subtle notes of cured charcuterie, graphite and tar. The palate reveals a soft, sensual, mouth coating texture. People often describe the wines from this type of vineyard as “neck oil”, which is in reference to the sleek, mouth coating tannins and brooding dark fruits. The Herrmann Shiraz speaks of true Northern Barossa style: rich, deep and opulent.' Dave Powell

About the Wine Maker
Dave Powell is a Barossa legend. He cut his teeth at Rockford before founding Torbreck in 1994, the label that came to define an entire era of Barossa Shiraz. Neldner Road is his return, by his own account, to the instincts that shaped his earliest and best work.
Named for the road where his Marananga winery sits, Neldner Road draws fruit from two places Powell knows better than almost anyone: the warm Western Barossa and the cooler, high altitude Flaxman’s Valley in the Eden Valley. Many of these vineyards are ones he personally brought back from neglect over twenty years ago, now farmed with a minimalist hand and finished the old fashioned way, open concrete ferments, basket pressing, French oak maturation.
One of Barossa’s most respected winemakers, back doing what he does best.
